Dr. Mark Banakis received his undergraduate degree from Loyola University. He continued his education at the University of Illinois Medical Center where he obtained his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. Following dental school he completed a one-year internship at Evanston Hospital. Dr. Banakis then had the unique opportunity to attend the University of Chicago Medical Center for his residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery where he was chief resident for 2 years. He has held teaching positions as Associate Clinical Professor in both the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Chicago. Dr. Banakis is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. In addition, he has received clinical and academic awards for his dedication to excellence in the field of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
Dr. Gregory Doerfler received a BS degree from the University of Notre Dame and Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Loyola University – Chicago College of Dental Surgery. He completed a residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Mt. Sinai Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. Doerfler entered private practice in 1976. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Over the years he has joined volunteer groups to various areas in South America , helping change lives by facial reconstructions, tumor excisions, cleft lip/palate repairs and a variety of other conditions. Dr. Doerfler is a Colonel in the Illinois Army Reserve National Guard. He served active duty in the U.S. Army during Operation Iraqi Freedom as the Oral and Maxillofacial Specialist from January through May 2008; and again served active duty in Afghanistan from October 2011 through February 2012.
